Tigo Tanzania is the one of the top telecommunication company in Tanzania. It is the biggest commercial brand of Millicom.

A Millicom is an international company trading in over 12 countries in Africa and Latin America and corporate offices in Europe and the USA countries

The company has over 11 million registered subscribers to its network, with over 300,000 Tanzanians directly and indirectly employs.

The Tigo directly and indirectly employs including of customer service representatives, mobile money merchants, sales agents and distributors.

The company was registered and granted a license in 1993, November 30. It was registered under the corporation between Millicom International Cellular (MIC), Ultimate Communications Limited of Tanzania and Tanzania Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (TPTC).

One of the popular brand within the company is Tigo Pesa. Tigo in 2014, become the first in Africa to provide a fully inter operable mobile money service network; that allowed its customers to trade money between Vodacom, Airtel and Zantel.

The service also extended to Tigo in Rwanda and the company was the pioneer in East Africa's first cross-border money transfer mobile wallet product. The gateway allowed customers in Rwanda and Tanzania to send money to tiGO customers in the respective countries.

4G service was launched in December 2015 in Dar es Salaam. The company was the first in the country to bring 4G and 3G speeds to its customers and possibly one of the first companies in Africa to provide LTE services. The company own four popular apps Tigo App, Tigo Pesa App, Kitabu App and Tigo Backup. It is also available in a popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
